Community safety is everyone's responsibility.
Working with residents, businesses, first responders, healthcare providers, and community organizations to create practical solutions that improve safety while supporting those who need help.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood, whether they're walking to school, visiting a local business, enjoying a park, or spending time downtown. Community safety is one of the most important responsibilities of local government, and it requires collaboration, accountability, and practical solutions.
Working Together
No single organization can address today's public safety challenges alone. As your councillor, I will work with residents, businesses, first responders, healthcare providers, community organizations, and all levels of government to support coordinated solutions that improve safety while helping people access the services they need.
Supporting Safe and Welcoming Neighbourhoods
Safe communities are built through prevention, strong partnerships, and well-maintained public spaces. I will advocate for:
- Clean, well-maintained parks, streets, and public spaces.
- Improved lighting and infrastructure where safety concerns have been identified.
- Regular communication with residents and businesses about neighbourhood concerns.
- Collaborative initiatives that help reduce crime and improve public confidence.
Addressing Homelessness, Mental Health, and Addictions
Many of the challenges our community faces are complex and cannot be solved by enforcement alone.
I support working with healthcare providers, outreach organizations, emergency services, Indigenous organizations, and community partners to improve access to mental health, addiction, and housing supports while ensuring our public spaces remain safe, welcoming, and accessible for everyone.
The best decisions are made through collaboration. When we bring people together, listen with respect, and work toward shared solutions, we strengthen our community and create the unity needed to move Thunder Bay forward.

Business owners deserve commercial areas where employees feel safe, customers feel welcome, and businesses can thrive.
I will continue working with the Simpson St Businesses, Fort William BIA, Bay & Algoma Businesses, City administration, and community partners to identify practical improvements that enhance safety, encourage investment, and strengthen our commercial districts.
A Safer McKellar Ward
Community safety isn't achieved through one policy or one organization. It is built through strong leadership, partnerships, and a commitment to finding practical solutions.
As your councillor, I will listen, advocate, and work collaboratively to help build a McKellar Ward where residents feel secure, businesses can prosper, and everyone can be part of a safer, stronger community.

Supporting Simpson Street and our Fort William BIA along with the Algoma & Bay Area..Helping create an environment where businesses can grow, invest, and attract customers.
Revitalizing Our Business Districts
Simpson Street and the surrounding business districts have a rich history and tremendous potential. I will work collaboratively with local business owners, the Fort William BIA, and businesses and organizations in the Algoma Street and Bay Street areas.
The people who operate and support these businesses bring valuable knowledge, experience, and insight into the opportunities and challenges facing our commercial districts. They are essential community partners in creating solutions that strengthen our local economy.
By working together with business owners, community organizations, and City administration, we can support initiatives that encourage investment, improve our streetscapes, and create safe, welcoming, and vibrant spaces for residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs.
Revitalization is about more than improving buildings—it is about strengthening the local economy, fostering community pride, supporting existing businesses, attracting new investment, and creating neighbourhoods where people want to live, work, shop, and spend time.

We will continue to attract new businesses, but we have to continue supporting the businesses that are already investing in McKellar Ward. KODOS to those Entrepreneurs who have stayed through challenging times while also working to create conditions that welcome new investment. We all want to see the ward's commercial areas thrive.
Local businesses are the heart of a strong community. They create jobs, provide services, sponsor local events, and help make our neighbourhoods vibrant places to live and visit. As your councillor, I will work to support an environment where businesses can succeed and where residents are proud to shop, dine, and invest locally.
Encouraging Investment
Businesses need confidence to invest in our community. I will support policies that encourage redevelopment, attract new businesses, and help existing businesses grow. By working collaboratively with City staff and community partners, we can strengthen our local economy while preserving the character of our neighbourhoods.
Reducing Unnecessary Barriers
The City should be a partner in helping businesses succeed. While regulations are important, processes should be clear, efficient, and responsive.
I will advocate for practical improvements that help entrepreneurs navigate permits and approvals, reduce unnecessary delays where possible, and foster a positive relationship between the City and the business community.

Economic growth doesn't happen by chance—it happens through collaboration. By working with business owners, residents, the Fort William BIA, businesses and organizations along Simpson Street, Algoma Street, and Bay Street, community organizations, and City administration, we can build a stronger local economy that creates jobs, attracts investment, supports entrepreneurship, and strengthens the vibrant neighbourhoods that make McKellar Ward a great place to live, work, and do business.

I will provide regular updates on Council decisions, ward projects, and upcoming initiatives through newsletters, social media, and community meetings. My goal is to keep residents informed, engaged, and connected.

Good governance begins with transparency.
I believe decisions should be based on facts, community input, and careful consideration of the long-term impact on residents and taxpayers. I will explain my positions, communicate the reasoning behind my votes, and be accountable for the decisions I make.
Even when opinions differ, residents deserve to understand how and why decisions are made.
Accessible Representation
A councillor should be visible, approachable, and easy to reach.
I will make it a priority to attend community events, meet regularly with residents and business owners, and be available to discuss concerns, answer questions, and listen to new ideas.

Career /Leadership
Throughout my career, I have built a strong foundation in leadership, customer service, business development, and community collaboration.
I currently serve as the Assistant General Manager at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, where I help oversee the daily operations of a busy hotel. My role involves leading teams, managing budgets, solving problems, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and ensuring the business operates efficiently. It has strengthened my ability to make informed decisions, balance priorities, and work collaboratively with staff, guests, and community partners.
Prior to this role, I gained valuable experience as Revenue Manager where I was responsible for revenue strategy, forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and market analysis. This role required careful financial planning, data-driven decision-making, and a strong understanding of tourism and the local economy. It reinforced the importance of responsible financial management and maximizing value—principles I would bring to City Council.
As Sales and Marketing Manager I developed skills in relationship building, strategic planning, communications, and promoting local businesses and tourism. These experiences taught me the importance of supporting economic growth while building strong connections within the community.
As a Front Desk Manager, I learned that listening, responsiveness, and professionalism are essential to building trust. Managing guest concerns, leading customer service teams, and resolving issues with empathy and efficiency have shaped my approach to leadership.
I also had the privilege of serving as the Coordinator for the Waterfront District BIA, where I worked closely with business owners, community organizations, volunteers, and City administration. This role gave me firsthand experience supporting local businesses, organizing community events, promoting economic development, and advocating for vibrant, welcoming commercial districts. I understand the challenges and opportunities facing our local business community and the importance of collaboration in creating successful neighbourhoods.
Across every stage of my career, one principle has remained constant: strong communities are built through listening, collaboration, and responsible leadership. I will bring that same practical, service-focused approach to representing the residents and businesses of McKellar Ward on Thunder Bay City Council.
Volunteer work – Community involvement
Giving back to the community has always been an important part of my life. Over the years, I have volunteered with organizations and events that celebrate Thunder Bay, support local businesses, raise funds for important causes, and bring people together.
My volunteer experience includes:
- Chair, Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors – Welcoming new businesses, supporting networking opportunities, and promoting a strong local business community.
- 1995 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships – Hospitality and Events Coordinator, helping welcome athletes, officials, and visitors from around the world.
- TSN Women's Curling events – Supporting the planning and delivery of national sporting events hosted in Thunder Bay.
- Scotties Tournament of Hearts – Volunteering to help showcase our city and provide a positive experience for athletes and visitors.
- Woofstock – Supporting one of Thunder Bay's popular community events.
- Downtown Business Improvement Area Events – Working alongside local businesses and volunteers to create vibrant community celebrations and promote our downtown districts.
- Ribfest – Helping organize one of Thunder Bay's signature summer events.
- CIBC Run for the Cure – Supporting fundraising efforts for breast cancer research and awareness.
- Numerous other community events and initiatives throughout Thunder Bay.
These experiences have allowed me to work with volunteers, local businesses, community organizations, sponsors, and municipal partners to deliver successful events that strengthen our economy, celebrate our community, and create opportunities for people to connect.
Volunteering has taught me the value of collaboration, service, and leadership. It has given me a deep appreciation for the people who dedicate their time to making Thunder Bay a stronger, more welcoming community. As your City Councillor, I will bring that same commitment to serving the residents and businesses of McKellar Ward.

Why Council? Why Now?
Thunder Bay has been my home for many years. Through my career in hospitality, tourism, business development, and community leadership, I've had the privilege of working with residents, local businesses, volunteers, and community organizations to help make our city a better place.
Those experiences have shown me both the incredible strengths of our community and the challenges we need to address together.
Over the past several years, I've watched residents and business owners become increasingly concerned about community safety, the vitality of our business districts, housing, infrastructure, and the future of our neighbourhoods. I've also seen the resilience, compassion, and determination of the people who call McKellar Ward home.
After listening to residents, meeting with local businesses, speaking with City administration, and reflecting on my own experiences, I believe now is the right time to step forward and serve.
I'm not running because I have all the answers. I'm running because I believe effective leadership begins with listening, asking thoughtful questions, and bringing people together to find practical solutions.
Throughout my career, I've managed budgets, led teams, supported local businesses, organized community events, solved complex challenges, and built strong relationships. Those experiences have prepared me to make informed decisions, communicate openly, and work collaboratively on behalf of the people of McKellar Ward.
If elected, I will be a councillor who is accessible, accountable, and engaged. I'll be present in our neighbourhoods, available to residents and businesses, and committed to making decisions based on facts, community input, and what's in the best interest of our ward and our city.
I'm running because I care deeply about our community and believe that, by working together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more vibrant McKellar Ward for everyone.

I want seniors to feel heard, entrepreneurs to feel supported, and every resident to know they have a voice at City Hall.
I'm motivated by service. I believe leadership means showing up, listening with respect, and making decisions that reflect the needs and priorities of the people you represent.
